Developments

Fri May 29, 2009, 2:53 PM
Hey all! Just letting you know about the recent developments in my life involving writing. I am still writing/editing Dead Moon Rising, but I do not know when I can expect it to be done. I am taking my time. I am thinking about doing a non-traditional NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month-- [link] ) this year by re-writing and editing Dead Moon Rising (which will include the sequel Dead Moon Setting as part of the first book). I would do this with the goal of finishing it. Let me know what you think.

Also, a novel idea finally came to me that seems worthy of something a little extra (meaning, I will spend real time on it, not just try and write it lightning fast in the month of November). It is going to be a little autobiographical in the sense that I got the idea for it brainstorming the direction of my own life. I sarcastically thought that my life is likely to come crashing down at my feet when I am 30 or so and it gave me an interesting idea. I thought about starting that novel today, though I do not yet have a title. The concept is this: A class of high school students lucks out by getting one of the school's favorite teachers. They soon learn why her class is so sought after: the teacher is an incredibly witty and caring individual who not only teaches her subject well, but also inspires students on a daily basis. However, in the middle of the year she starts missing classes, and talk begins to go around and the students find that their teacher has been through a particularly bad divorce. The teacher returns to classes, but she is different. The students begin to watch a tragedy unfold in their favorite teacher's life as she misses more classes when her mother dies. The students can see the teacher trying to hold it together until it becomes evident that she may be fired. Though the students can tell she is showing up under the influence of drugs and alcohol and is not fulfilling her purpose as a teacher any longer, the students have confidence that their inspiration deserves a second chance.

If anyone wants me to put some of this up on deviantart after it's been written, please let me know.
Thanks,
Allie
